The medial temporal lobe is a region of the temporal lobe which is located on the inferior surface of both cerebral hemisphere. It is composed of the fusiform gyrus, parahippocampal gyrus, and hippocampal region (Ammon's horn, dentate gyrus, and subicular complex). The medial temporal lobe function is essential for declarative memory, which is conscious memory for facts and events.
