Lateral Cutaneous Nerve of Thigh

Saturday, January 14, 2012

The lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh originates from the lumbar plexus (L2-L3) and runs over the iliac muscle to below the superior anterior iliac spine. It then extends underneath the inguinal ligament through the lateral part of the muscular lacuna to the outer aspect of the thigh and passes through the fascia lata to the skin. The lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh is exclusively sensory and supplies the skin of the lateral aspect of the thigh down to the level of the knee.
