Hypertension is a medical condition characterized by chronic high blood pressure, whose measurement is above 130mm for the sistolic (high) and 80mm for the diastolic, with some patient reaching the 200--110mm for both. If not treated, hypertension can be very dangerous and cause a cerebral stroke or infarct, in which a brain blood vessel bursts, provoking the death of thousands of neurons due to ischemia. So, treatment is a must as the patient must see a cardiologist.

Causes

High cholesterol levels, too much salt, stress, being overweight, a sedentary life style, kidneys malfunction, diabetes, etc.
