Pargyline Hydrochloride

Pargyline hydrochloride is an anti-hypertensive agent indicated in the treatment of some types of primary and secondary hypertension. It may be used alone or concurrently with most other anti-hypertensive agents. It is often effective at reduced dosage when administered with one of the thiazides. It has been sold in the USA under the commercial name of Eutonyl.

Contraindications

Pargyline hydrochloride is contraindicated in patients with pheochromocytoma, paranoid schizophrenia, hyperthyroidism, and advanced renal failure. It should not be administered to patients with malign hypertension and to children under twelve years of age.
