Sural Artery

Saturday, June 6, 2015

The sural arteries are a pair of blood vessels which originate from the popliteal artery in the back of the knee. One is the medial and the other the lateral sural arteries. They supply the soleus, gastrocnemeus, and plantaris muscles with oxygenated blood. They give off branches that anastomose with the lateral inferior and posterior tibial arteries.
