Posterior Orbital Gyrus

The posterior orbital gyrus is located in the inferior surface, or orbital surface, of the frontal lobe. It is bounded anteriorly by one of the orbital sulci that runs crosswise or obliquely, separating it from the anterior orbital gyrus. The posterior orbital gyrus receives projections from pyramidal neurons located in other frontal areas, such as middle and superior frontal gyri, contributing to the executive functions of the frontal lobe.
